In My Mailbox #5

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme created by Kristi at The Story Siren.  It's the place for me to talk about the fabulous books I have received each week, whether they were bought, borrowed, won or for review...

I haven't done an IMM in ages so I'm uber-excited to showcase the books I received lately! :)

Please leave your comments below and tell me what you thought of the books if you've read them :)
Gifted:

My mum has been super kind and bought me these books to congratulate me for doing well in my exams!  Thanks Mum (and Happy Mother's Day!)!!!
The Future of Us by Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler:  I've actually finished reading this book and I can say this it was super: a really interesting read that had a unique storyline.  Review coming soon....
Falling Fast by Sophie McKenzie:  I'm more than halfway through this book and so far it has been brilliant although I'm struggling to get on with Flynn, he's so dark and moody... I do hope his personality changes at the end.
Virtuosity by Jessica Martinez:  I love the idea of this book, it sounds amazing and I've wanted to read this in a long time.
Bunheads by Sophie Flack:  Another book which I can't wait to start!  I love books about ballet but there are rarely any books about it for YA readers, they are usually targeted towards younger children, so thanks to Sophie Flack for writing it!

The Replacement by Brenna Yovanoff:  Thank you to Cicely from Cicely Loves Books for sending this to me!  It looks like a really mysterious read so I can't wait to get stuck in it :)

Bought:

The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson:  Technically I didn't 'buy' this... Waterstones are doing a really great offer and letting us have this and another book for only one pound!  What a bargain... and it's an actual full-length book as well!  And if you're under 16 (or is it 18?), you can use your book token and get it for absolutely FREE!  Thank you to the bloggers who made me aware of this :)

Won:

Choclate SOS and Flirting for England by Sue Limb:  I won this giveaway over at The Book Addicted Girl!  The prize was initially only Choclate SOS but there was a delay so Bloomsbury threw in an extra book and some goodies!  Can't wait to read these!

This is Not Forgiveness by Celia Rees:  Another Bloomsbury giveaway that I won over at Readaraptor.  It seems like a chilling read so I may save it for later when I'm in the mood for a heavy read!  And look, it's signed! *squeal*
For Chicklish review:

Skin Deep by Laura Jarratt:  So excited when Luisa asked me to review this for Chicklish!  It sounds like a really interesting read and I'm hoping that it will live up to my expectations!

Apart from Skin Deep which will definitely get a review, I'm hoping to review most of the books that I've received so far as I think they will probably deserve one... most of them have had amazing reviews on other blogs, so watch this space...

Happy reading,
Beverley x

  3. Great batch of books! I love reading UK blogs, just to see the covers that are different from the Canadian/US ones. I picked up Bunheads from the library this week -- check out my IMM (the cover's quite different!): http://writergrrlreads.blogspot.ca/2012/03/imm-3-birthday-edition.html

    P.S. I'm a new follower too!

  6. The Replacement was such a fun and original book! It's what convinced me that Brenna Yovanoff is an author to watch out for because her imagination is wildly creative and beautiful in its own way! ;) Plus, that sounds like such the bargain for The Name of the Star! I kind of enjoyed that one too :)

Awesome mailbox this week, Beverley! I hope you enjoy each and every single one of your awesome-looking books! :)

  12. Bunheads looks awesome! There is a new tv show starting tonight actually about the ballet world its on the same channel that has the vampire diaries, 90210, americas next top model, etc.etc.
i wanted to be a ballerina sooooooo bad as a wee kiddy. i am still a bit obsessed with it, the world, the dance, its so tragically beautiful.
my cousin was a ballerina who was a part of the NYC Rockettes in the 80's.
I must find the name of the show..BREAKING POINTE is the name of the ballet show btw.
