Showcase Sunday is hosted by the lovely Vicky over at Books, Biscuits, and Tea! It's a great way to share what you have received the past week and to also gush over the wonderful books other bloggers have added to their bookshelves!
Bev's New Books:
For review:
Blink Once by Cylin Busby: A lovely surprise from the publisher. It sounds really interesting and mysterious and it's told from the guy's point of view - you know how I love my male POVs ;)
Unspoken by Sarah Rees Brennan: Some of my favourite bloggers really enjoyed this and said it was unusual and different. And I love the UK cover- the girl looks Asian and you rarely get Asian girls on covers so YAY!
The Killables by Gemma Malley: Another surprise! I heard about this one a while ago and was planning to borrow it from the library once I had time so I'm really glad this landed on my doorstep.
Mockingbird by Kathryn Erskine: This book seems so beautiful and delicate as it's told from the POV of a girl with Asperger's. I'm always intrigued to see how authors deal with matters like these.
Thanks to Bloomsbury, Simon & Schuster, Hodder & Stoughton and Kathryn Erskine for these lovelies.
Won:
My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century by Rachel Harris: Whoopee! I was going to ask for this for my birthday but I was super excited when I was told I'd won a copy from a giveaway! I'm so eager to pick this one up as it sounds like such a fun, flirty read! If you haven't got your hands on one yet, don't forget to enter my 16th Birthday Giveaway! You can win an e-copy and a pretty swag pack.
Gifted:
A Kindle!!!!!! Yes, I asked for a Kindle! (Thanks to those of you who encouraged me on Twitter to ask for one!) I've always stood firm and said I wouldn't go to the 'dark' side, nothing can beat a paperback etc... but every blogger I know has one and Jen seems to adore hers so I thought, 'Why not?' And while it isn't as good as a paperback, I still love it and I've already made a few requests on Netgalley! Thank you so much Mum and Dad, love you guys!!!!!!!!!
Bought:
Forever Mine by Elizabeth Reyes: I wanted to try out the Kindle and this was free on Amazon so I decided to get it, plus the cover is so sweet :D And the guy is called Angel? Something tells me he doesn't really live up to the name ;)
Jen's New Books

For Review:
Entangled by Nikki Jefford: Yay for indie authors! I've heard really great things about this one, and it looks so interesting!
Blind Spot by Laura Ellen: This synopsis intrigued me INSTANTLY. "What you can't see might be murder" is the tagline--doesn't that intrigue YOU?
Love Unscripted by Tina Reber: This one isn't YA, but it's a romance adult novel. I most likely won't be reviewing this one on the blog, but it looked interesting.
Send Me A Sign by Tiffany Schmidt: Yep. I'm still looking for that cancer book that will make me cry.
Magisterium by Jeff Hirsch: I've already heard really mixed things about this one, but I'll still give it a try. Sounds awesome!
Much thanks to Netgalley, Houghton Mifflin, Bloomsbury, Scholastic, IBPA, and S&S!

Bought:
Blood Like Poison by M. Leighton: I pretty much just bought this one because it's by M. Leighton and I've heard nothing but amazing things about her. Freebie!
Wings of Arian by Devri Walls: This one was pretty hyped up during the blog tour, and I've had my eye on it for a while. Another freebie!
Madly by M. Leighton: Another great one by Miss Leighton! Freebie as well..
Solstice by Donna Burgess: Zombie Apocalypse. Nuff said. Freebie.
Second Chance by Katie Kacvinsky: I read Awaken (a different series), but I haven't read First Comes Love yet. I will soon, now that I have this lovely! Was a freebie when I bought it!
Borrowed:
If I Stay by Gayle Forman: I read this one about 2 years ago, and I didn't like it much, at all. I'm going to try again! This one I borrowed on audio.
Smart Girls Get What They Want by Sarah Strohmeyer: GUYS THIS IS THE FIRST EVER PHYSICAL ARC I'VE EVER LAID HANDS ON. My sister is part of this library book group (that I don't have time for) so she was able to snag an ARC to borrow. EEEP.
Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson: LOVED Amy and Roger's, so I can't freaking WAIT to read this one! Funny story: I tweeted that I was starting this one, and Ms. Matson actually tweeted back at me, when I didn't even mention her! :)
What did you guys get this week? Link us up!
Happy reading,

Have fun with all these books, girls! Happy reading! :)
I loveee my Kindle and it's a wonderful investment, seriously. I don't know how I read before it and while paperbacks will always be better, e-books have become a part of my life now. I loved Unspoken as well and am SO EXCITED for you to read it because it is AWESOME! :D
ReplyDeleteMagisterium is another one I'm really looking forward to and I hope you enjoy it! I'm also so jealous you picked up The Blind Spot, so have fun reading that!

Both of you got some awesome stuff this week!!
ReplyDeleteBeverly, congrats on the Kindle! I was just like you, I didn't want to go over to the dark side, but I am so glad I did. It's really awesome reading on a Kindle, and I love how portable everything is! It's really great, and I do hope you enjoy reading on it. =) Throne of Glass was good for me, but not amazing unfortunately. I hope you enjoy it more than I did!
Jen, you got some awesome stuff too! Congrats on getting your first physical ARC by the way. ;) It seems like such an awesome accomplishment! Also, Blind Spot looks seriously awesome. You're totally right, the tagline is totally intriguing. And I really need to pick up If I Stay! I hope you like it better the second time around. =)
Fabulous haul you two! I'm sure I overused the word awesome, but seriously, it's the only way to describe your hauls! <3
I am so jealous. In so many ways, I can't even go through them all. I must say that If I Stay is one of my favorite contemporary books of all time, though. I hope you enjoy all the book-ish goodness!

ReplyDeleteYou are rockin' the book haul this week! Wow, you have some very happy reading in your future! Love that new Kindle! Enjoy!! My Sunday Edition @ Paulette’s Papers
ReplyDeleteKINDLE! I want! I have an ereader but mine is rather temperamental... I feel like I need to invest in a Kindle. Everyone else has one! Like you, I still greatly prefer paperback, but an ereader is great for Netgalley and especially if I'm going out... a lot lighter in my bag! Also: your parents ROCK :D
ReplyDeleteI've been hearing a lot of great things about Unspoken!! Definitely inching it's way to my must-read pile. I liked The Killables too, and Blink Once sounds super interesting!
Really excited to read Blind Spot and Magisterium looks really intriguing! I loved Epic Detour too and I have Second Chance Summer, so I hope to get to it soon!
You girls have an AMAZING haul of books!!! ENJOY THEM ALL!
Wow girls this haul is amazing I honestly don't know where to begin! Beverley you got a kindle yay! Welcome to the kindle club! I was like that before getting mine, but now I don't go anywhere without it! Also yay for Unspoken, the reviews have been crazy that I can't wait to get a copy! Jen I too got a copy of Send me a Sign, I think I will pick it up when I'm in the right mood for it! Also congratulations on your first physical arc! Happy reading! :)
ReplyDeleteK, I didn't even know where to start with this post. So many awesome things! Umm Love the UK covers for Unspoken and Throne of Glass. And YAY for Kindle! I recently got one (well two) and I LOVE LOVE LOVE them. Way better than my old e reader! I really want to read second chance summer!!
ReplyDeleteAhhhhh YAY KINDLE!!!!! When my husband first suggested I get one I was all "what do I need one for? I like paper books" and then I got one and I fell madly, madly in love with it. I live for my Kindle. It's just so easy to get the books! I hope you enjoy yours Beverley!
ReplyDeleteYou girls got some awesome books! Congrats on the Kindle Bev!! I swore I'd never get one and then when I did I completely loved it. So many great features and you can take so many books with you! I never leave without it. I hope you love Unspoken as much as I did! It's super funny, and has a hint of romance but it ends on a brutal cliffhanger. Eeeeek! Still loved it.
ReplyDeleteJen, I got Love Unscripted as well. I still need to read the first one, they both look yummy! Blind Spot is one I'm anxious to dive into. If I Stay and Where She Went are favorites for me! I hope you have better luck this time around.
Great haul ladies. :)
Oh, you two got amazing books! Congratulations on your Kindle! I swore that I would never buy an e-reader, but I can't live without mine now. It's so much easier! I will never ever replace it with my paperbacks and I always buy the books I love so I can collect them, but I can't put my e-reader away :p I hope you have much fun and happy reading with it!
ReplyDeleteI'm reading Throne of glass now and I'm totally loving it <3 So I hope you're going to love it as well!
Magisterium and Blind spot look awesome and Send me a sign sounds very intense.
Happy reading! Great haul :D
.. Damn. After I published my comment, I noticed my mistake. It's sometimes so difficult, haha. I meant to say that my paperbacks won't be replaced by my e-reader :p
