I wasn't expecting a lot from Forever Mine. It was free on Amazon and seemed like a nice read so I bought it mainly so I could try out my new Kindle. I didn't even think I would finish it but guess what? I finished it in two days, which is pretty good for me.
I haven't read a lot of books which primarily focus on romance so this was a little different for me. What I didn't really love about this was the insta-love. Come on, you set eyes on the girl then immediately know you want her? I would have enjoyed a build-up instead of a sudden spark I wasn't sure I was convinced with.
I really liked most of the characters. Sarah was a bit of a weak protagonist: the problem could have been resolved much quicker and easier if it weren't for her running away from everything. However, I had a soft spot for Angel. He's protective and a little too intense but you can see he has good intentions at heart. I enjoyed their relationship as it progressed but there was still a sceptical part of me which questioned if Angel was actually in love with her. It was all, 'Sarah is so different' but Reyes never showed me how or why Angel thought she was so special. Did he just want to get in her pants?
The secondary characters added some fun to the story. Alex, Angel's brother, was such an outrageous flirt that I found myself giggling at his words. Romero and Eric were awesome too with their playful banter and drunken antics!
A lot of the book was pretty mediocre. The writing wasn't anything spectacular. It was quite simple and not very descriptive. I spotted quite a few grammatical errors too which irked me a little but it wasn't too major and didn't affect my enjoyment of the book too much. Despite the flaws, I was compelled to read on and keep turning the pages so it was quite addictive!
Overall, Forever Mine was a nice, light read. It is perfect for when you're in a reading slump and you need something less serious and heavy to enjoy.
Seventeen-year old Sarah’s life is turned upside down when her single mom is sent to jail. She’s forced to move, leaving behind everything she’s ever known, including her best friend Sydney. Lost and bitter in a new school, her one goal is to save money and move back home. Then she meets Angel Moreno.First of all: Eeeeeeeee!!!!!!! I finished reading my first book on my new Kindle!
Enigmatic but gorgeous, Angel is almost too good to be true. Except for one thing, his archaic belief that guys and girls can never be “just friends”. The problem? Sarah’s best friend Sydney is not a girl.
With their unexpected romance intensifying to places neither ever experienced, how long can Sarah keep Angel in the dark about the guy waiting for her back home?

Please follow my blog! I have followed yours some time ago. It would mean a lot to me. Thank you! gabriellaumbrella.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI prefer romances that develop slowly and subtlety, but at the same time, I can get a little impatient sometimes. ;) This sounds like quite a fun read. I probably won't give it a go anytime soon, but I will definitely keep it in mind. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely review hun!
So you ended up getting that Kindle after all? I hope you're as happy with it as I am with mine. Too bad your test read wasn't as thrilling as you wanted it to be.
ReplyDeleteIt's too bad most of it was mediocre.
Great review, my daring, and congrats on your Kindle!
Interesting review :) Ugh, I hate insta love!!! :L Sounds like a fun read - glad you (sort of) like it :)
ReplyDeleteI have been craving a romance lately, but I don't know about the insta-love. Plus Sarah sounds a bit flat. Still, I'll (eventually) give it a shot. Wonderful review, Beverly! :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't see this on Amazon when I was "shopping" for free kindle books lol.
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, I don't like insta-love too especially when there's no explanation about it. I tend to get easily annoyed with books that focus on romance as well so I don't think this is the book for me.
Eeeee yay for your FIRST KINDLE BOOK!!! :D I'm sorry you didn't like this one as much as you would've liked and from your description, it does sound a little lackluster. I hate insta-love so much it's so unrealistic and just completely ruins your mood about the book >.< Great review Bev!
ReplyDeleteWow!! this is nice. i have been looking for books like this. At last ;-)
ReplyDeletelove to be here
Yay for the Kindle, Beverly! I got this one off of Amazon when it was free some time ago and just haven't read it yet. Looks like an "okay" read, maybe something I'll pick up if I want a nice mindless read. Lovely review Bev. :)
ReplyDeleteFreebies on Kindle! Welcome to my life! I've also had this one up in my kindle, but never really took a chance to try and read it. Contemporaries aren't really my thing, but it's nice to take a chance on them once in a while.
ReplyDeleteThis does look like a nice, fluffy read, but I'll follow your advice and wait until I'm in a reading slump.

Congrats with your first e-book on your e-reader! Freebies are amazing, but they also make my pile even bigger :p I don't like instant-love. I'm glad you enjoyed it despite all it's flaws!
ReplyDeleteHooray for reading on your new Kindle :D It's great that your first book turned out to be a good read!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all: EEEEPPPP!!! <3 So happy that you finally get to read the first book on your Kindle, Bev! <3 I'm sure that Forever Mine will be the first of many books to come in the future! ;) Anyway, I love the sound of Forever Mine! It sounds like the kind of book that I can finish quickly LOL! I'm always in for something fluffy and cute. ;) Oh, and don't we just love guys like Angel? There's something about those too-possessive guys LOL! x)
ReplyDeleteFabulous review as always, Bev! <3 Aww, I missed talking to you so much! <3
