Showcase Sunday #2

Showcase Sunday is hosted by the lovely Vicky over at Books, Biscuits and Tea!  It's a great way to share what you have received over the past week and to also gush over the wonderful books other bloggers have added to their bookshelves!

I haven't done an SS post in a while so here are the books I received since the last one:

For Review:

Between the Lines by Jodi Picoult and Samantha van Leer (ARC): I adored this book: it's magical, enchanting and very heart-warming.  You can read my review HERE. You really should read it :) Thank you to Luisa at Chicklish, you always seem to know which books I'd enjoy!

And as you can see, I received a lovely finished copy too as Luisa was utterly kind and sent me it too!  It is the most beautiful book ever - there are full-length colour illustrations, quirky silhouette drawings and the different POVS of the book are colour-coded too.  It would make a lovely present for a friend or just a lovely addition to your own bookshelf <3

Milledgeville Misfit by T.L. Gray: It was quite a compelling read but it still wasn't as good as I'd hoped it would be :( Check it out if you have the chance, it's a short book so it would be good for reading between heavier books.  Read my review HERE.

Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry: Eeeeeeeeee, how I'm ADORING this book <3  I'm still reading it, nearly finished though... I'm such a slow reader -.- although I think in this case I'm simply taking my time with it because I can't bear to part with my darling Noah <3  He's such a frikkin' babe - I'm sure girls across the WORLD will be falling for him soon!  He and Echo are like the BEST couple in YA fiction ever - the steamy romance between them is enough to make me blush!  And the way they mend each other's broken hearts and emotional scars is simply... amazing. My review will be up next week - prepare for a LOT of gushing ;)

Won:

My blogging friend Cliona over at Bookster Reviews had a 100 Followers Giveaway and I was lucky enough to win the prize pack from Macmillan Publishers.  Here are the books I got:

All These Things I've Done by Gabrielle Zevin: I've heard a lot of good things about this book from  reviews on other blogs so I have high hopes.  I'm trying to read more dystopian so once I've finished The Hunger Games and Divergent, I hope I'll get round to this.  (Is it just me, or does it take ages to actually get round to reading the books you really want to read because you have to prioritise books for review?)

Jane Austen Stole My Boyfriend by Cora Harrison:  This sounds like such a fun, flirty read and I love how it's based on Jane Austen as a teenager! I'm not much of a history fan but I'm eager to read this :)

Jasmine Skies by Sita Brahmachari:  I love how it's set in India and isn't the cover just gorgeous? I think this will be a lovely summer read and a nice 'escape' from the dull British weather!

And I also won some swag!

Never Enough by Denise Jaden bookmark and signed postcard:  This was how I first found out about Never Enough.  They are a constant reminder that I NEED to get my hands on the book soon!  Thank you to Julia at That Hapa Chick! It was a lovely surprise!

Thorn by Intisar Khanani bookmark: I never really use bookmarks but I've been encouraged to use them more so hopefully all this swag will come in handy! Thank you to the author for signing it too!

Plus...

A £20 Waterstones book voucher:  We had our annual prizegiving event in the last week of school and I was delighted when I got an English prize! I love how the school gives us book vouchers as prizes <3 Perfect for a book-loving girl like me :) I'm not too sure what I should spend it on as I still have LOADS of books that need to be read.  Any ideas?

What did you guys get this week? Don't forget to link me up!

Happy reading,
Beverley

  11. All These Things I've Done was pretty good. It's not really Dystopian though, when compared to others in the genre. It's more mafia mystery. I hope you like it though.
